Truck and Tow: Tundra and Sequoia Capacity vs OEM Heat

Toyota trucks and body-on-frame SUVs are kept for a long time and often towed to their ratings. Tundra approaches 12,000 lbs; Sequoia tows as a three-row SUV with similar thermal math. Factory G3000 rotors and semi-metallic pads pass Toyota's warranty window. They do not stay quiet or flat after repeated grade descents at those loads. Pulsation after a camping season is the usual first complaint.

Tundra: Full-Size Tow and TRD Pro

Tundra is the full-size Toyota truck. 2nd gen 5.7 V8 (2007–2021) and 3rd gen i-FORCE / i-FORCE MAX hybrid (2022+) do not share a rotor spec. Hybrid regen helps in traffic; on a long grade the friction brakes still take the trailer. TRD Pro adds trail shock and water to the same tow-capacity heat problem.

Tacoma: Light-Duty Midsize and TRD Trail

Tacoma is Toyota's light-duty / midsize truck - work, trail, and a smaller trailer. 3rd gen (2016–2023) and 4th gen (2024+) use different rotor sizes. TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro see mud and water that rust OEM plating and glaze pads on descents. It is not a Tundra kit and not a 4Runner kit.

Off-Road: 4Runner Trail Descents

4Runner lives on trail descents, water crossings, and slow heat with little highway airflow. OEM rotors shock after crossings and pack mud in the vanes. TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road are the trims that see that use; the kit still has to match that generation's rotor and caliper, not a Tacoma or Sequoia part number.
