Corvette Z06 Oil Change Guide: LT4/LT6 Dry Sump Service

Corvette Z06 models use dry-sump lubrication — oil lives in a remote tank rather than a conventional pan. This prevents oil starvation during high-G cornering on track, but it also means the drain-and-fill procedure differs from a Camaro or standard Corvette. Follow the factory sequence: drain tank, drain pan, replace filter, refill tank, run engine, recheck level.

The C8's mid-engine layout puts the oil tank and filter in the front trunk (frunk). Familiarize yourself with the frunk release and support strut before attempting service — many owners use a lift for easier access to the underside drain points.
