The Camaro ZL1's LT4 is a 6.2L supercharged V8 making 650 horsepower. The Eaton TVS blower spins hot oil through the engine at higher temperatures than a naturally aspirated SS. Oil breakdown accelerates under track load, and the wrong spec can leave bearing surfaces unprotected during sustained high-RPM sessions.

Use Dexos1 Gen 2 full synthetic 5W-30 (confirm against oil cap). Use a quality filter with anti-drainback valve — ZL1 oil galleries stay pressurized and a cheap filter can allow dry starts after sitting.

Oil life monitors assume street driving. If you run HPDE events or repeated drag passes, treat oil like a consumable — change before the season, mid-season if you log more than 500 track miles, and always after an overheating event.

The ZL1's factory Brembo brakes work hard on track. Every oil change is the right time to check pad thickness, rotor condition, and brake fluid color — faded fluid and worn pads show up together on a track-used ZL1.
