The Subaru WRX and BRZ represent two distinct performance approaches that share a lineage — the WRX is a rally-derived turbocharged AWD sports sedan, the BRZ is a lightweight naturally-aspirated rear-wheel-drive sports car co-developed with Toyota (GR86). WRX STI: The Most Demanding Subaru Brake Application
The WRX STI's factory Brembo 6-piston front / 2-piston rear caliper setup is one of the most capable OEM brake packages in a production sports sedan. Despite this, track day STI owners consistently report pad fade after 4–6 laps — the OEM Brembo pads are the limiting factor, not the calipers.
