Ford Raptor Fox Shock & Suspension Service Guide

Fox Shocks Take a Beating on the Raptor

The Raptor's Fox Live Valve internal bypass shocks are engineered for repeated high-speed impacts, but desert running, jumps, and washboard trails still wear seals, bushings, and internal valving over time.

Inspection Points

A shock showing visible oil loss has lost internal damping and should be serviced or replaced before your next off-road trip.

  • Check for oil seepage at the shock shaft seal
  • Inspect bushings and mounts for play
  • Listen for clunks over sharp hits — often a bushing, not the shock itself
  • Confirm Live Valve mode changes are functioning via the dash

Impacts Stress Rotors the Same Way They Stress Shocks

Hard landings and washboard trails send shock loads through the whole corner — hub, rotor, and caliper included. Rotors designed to shed mud and clear debris hold up better under the same abuse that wears out shocks.

Suspension and Brakes Both Manage Impact

Diamond-slotted rotors clear debris from washes and mud runs.
