The Ram 1500 spans the Pentastar 3.6L V6 and the 5.7L HEMI V8 (with or without eTorque assist) — each with its own oil spec and capacity. Get the wrong viscosity or capacity and you either underfill or use oil that doesn't match the engine's designed wear protection.
Whichever engine you have, towing accelerates oil breakdown well beyond what the truck's oil life monitor assumes for light, unloaded driving.

Use 0W-20 full synthetic meeting the FCA/Stellantis spec listed on your oil cap.

If you regularly tow near the Ram 1500's rated capacity, set a hard 5,000-mile interval regardless of what the oil life monitor displays. Hot climates and mountain grades accelerate oil breakdown beyond what the algorithm always captures.

Every oil change is a convenient checkpoint to glance at pad thickness and rotor condition — especially on a truck that tows. Front pads on a loaded Ram 1500 wear faster than most owners expect.
